Tow Truck Training - H Group

 The ITSSAR-accredited Tow Truck Training course (H Group) delivered by SID Training is provided exclusively on-site at your premises, allowing operators to train using your own equipment within a familiar working environment.

Tow trucks are commonly used across warehouse, manufacturing, and logistics operations for towing loads such as trailers, cages, and trolleys. While often considered simple equipment, incorrect use can lead to serious risks including collisions, load instability, and loss of control.

This course combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training to ensure operators understand safe operating procedures, workplace responsibilities, and how to minimise risks when towing loads.

Particular emphasis is placed on safe towing techniques, correct coupling and uncoupling procedures, and maintaining full control of both the vehicle and the load. Operators will also learn about braking distances, load stability, and the impact of weight when towing multiple trailers.

Training also covers safe manoeuvring within confined areas and busy working environments, ensuring operators can work safely around pedestrians, vehicles, and other workplace hazards.

Pre-use inspections are covered in detail, ensuring operators can identify faults and carry out essential safety checks before operating the equipment.

Training is delivered on the specific type of tow truck used on your site, ensuring relevance to your working environment and day-to-day operations.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and within industry.

 Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of:

• Safe operation of tow trucks and towing equipment 
• Operator responsibilities and workplace safety awareness 
• Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures 
• Safe towing techniques and correct coupling/uncoupling of trailers 
• Load security and understanding towing capacities 
• Braking distances and safe stopping when towing loads 
• Safe manoeuvring in confined spaces and busy working environments 
• Awareness of trailer tracking, swing, and turning hazards 
• Working safely around pedestrians and other vehicles 
• End-of-shift procedures and safe shutdown of equipment

 All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and widely accepted within industry.
