ADR – Dangerous Goods

(European regulations concerning the international transport of dangerous goods by road).

Any driver who is involved in the transport of dangerous goods within the UK and Europe is required, by law, to hold an ADR Driver Training Certificate.

A certificate can be obtained for packaged goods, tanks, or both and is valid for 5 years.

The Regulations require drivers engaged in the carriage of dangerous goods to undertake a training course. Its main objectives are to:

· Make drivers aware of hazards arising in the carriage of dangerous goods

· Give drivers information on minimising the likelihood of an incident

· Enable drivers to take measures for their own safety and that of the public and environment should an incident take place

· Give drivers information on limiting the effects of an incident.

Once you have completed your ADR training you will be entitled to drive a vehicle with tanks and vehicles which carry dangerous goods in containers, packages and other configurations.
