 The ITSSAR-accredited Reach Truck Training course delivered by SID Training is designed to equip operators with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence required to safely operate reach trucks in warehouse and storage environments. Reach trucks are widely used in narrow aisle settings and high racking systems, making precision handling and operator awareness essential. This course ensures that delegates understand how to manoeuvre equipment safely in confined spaces while maintaining full control of loads at height. Training includes both theoretical and practical elements, giving operators a clear understanding of safe working practices, legal responsibilities, and efficient load handling techniques. Particular emphasis is placed on working in restricted areas, accurate load placement, and maintaining stability when lifting at height.  Operators will also learn how to carry out pre-use inspections, identify potential faults, and understand the key principles of truck stability and load security. This helps reduce the risk of accidents, damage to goods, and workplace incidents.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and within the warehousing and logistics industry.

  We offer a range of training options at SID Training to suit all levels of operator experience:

• Novice – Designed for individuals with little or no previous experience.  Duration: 5 days  Group Size: Maximum of 3 delegates 
• Experienced Worker – For operators with relevant practical experience but no formal certification.  Duration: 2 days  Group Size: Maximum of 2 delegates 
• Refresher – For qualified operators who need to update their certification and ensure continued compliance.  Duration: 1 day  Group Size: Maximum of 3 delegates 
• Conversion – For operators who are already qualified on one truck type and are transitioning to a counterbalance forklift.  Duration: 2 days  Group Size: Maximum of 2 delegates

 Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of:

• Safe operation of a reach truck 
• Operator responsibilities and workplace safety awareness 
• Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures 
• Stability principles and working safely at height 
• Safe manoeuvring in narrow aisles and confined warehouse environments 
• Correct load handling, lifting, and high-level stacking practices 
• Accurate load placement within racking systems 
• Loading and unloading procedures where applicable 
• End-of-shift procedures and safe shutdown of equipment

 All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and widely accepted within industry.
