OHG (Overhead Gantry) Training

 The ITSSAR-accredited Overhead Gantry Crane Training course delivered by SID Training is provided exclusively on-site at your premises, allowing operatives to train within a real working environment using your lifting equipment and operational setup.

Overhead gantry cranes are widely used within manufacturing, engineering, warehouses, fabrication facilities, and industrial environments for safely lifting and moving heavy or awkward loads.

This course combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training to ensure operatives understand safe lifting procedures, workplace responsibilities, and how to minimise risks during crane operations.

Particular emphasis is placed on load control, safe lifting techniques, crane movements, signalling procedures, and maintaining safe working areas during lifting activities.

Operatives will also develop an understanding of lifting limitations, load stability, centre of gravity awareness, and the importance of carrying out lifting operations safely and efficiently.

Pre-use inspections are covered in detail, ensuring operators can identify faults, defects, or unsafe lifting equipment before use.

Training is delivered on the specific type of gantry crane used on your site, ensuring relevance to your operational environment and lifting activities.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and within industrial, manufacturing, and lifting sectors.

Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of:

• Safe operation of overhead gantry cranes

• Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures 
• Safe lifting and load handling techniques 
• Understanding load weights, balance, and centre of gravity
