Novice – Designed for individuals with little or no previous experience.
Duration: Typically 2-3 days depending on number of delegates and equipment type

Experienced Worker – For operators with relevant practical experience but no formal certification.
Duration: Typically 1-2 days

Refresher – For qualified operators who need to update their certification.
Duration: 1 day

Conversion – For operators transitioning from another truck type.
Duration: Typically 1 day

Course Overview:

The ITSSAR-accredited Order Picker Training course delivered by SID Training is provided exclusively on-site at your premises, allowing operators to train using your own equipment in a real working environment.

This training is available for both Medium Level Order Pickers (MLOP) and High Level Order Pickers (HLOP), depending on the equipment used within your workplace.

Order pickers are widely used in warehouse and distribution environments for picking stock at height. Operating this equipment requires a high level of precision, awareness, and safety, particularly when working at elevation.

The course combines both theoretical knowledge and practical training to ensure delegates understand safe operating procedures, workplace responsibilities, and how to minimise risks when working at height. Particular emphasis is placed on safe working at height, maintaining stability during elevation, and operating safely within narrow aisles and busy warehouse environments. Where applicable, operators will also be made aware of harness use and safe working practices.

Pre-use inspections are covered in detail, ensuring operators can identify faults and carry out essential safety checks before operating the equipment.

Training is carried out on the specific type of order picker used on your site, and certification is issued for that category only. Medium Level and High Level Order Pickers are treated as separate categories and require separate certification.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and within the warehousing and logistics industry.

What You Will Learn:

Throughout the course, delegates will develop a strong understanding of:

Safe operation of medium or high level order pickers (depending on equipment used)
Operator responsibilities and workplace safety awareness
Daily pre-use inspections and fault reporting procedures
Safe working at height, including awareness of fall prevention measures
Stability principles when elevating and lowering the platform
Safe manoeuvring in narrow aisles and confined warehouse environments
Correct picking procedures and safe handling of goods at height
Working safely around pedestrians and other workplace hazards
End-of-shift procedures and safe shutdown of equipment

Assessment & Certification:

All candidates will complete both a theoretical test and a practical skills assessment at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an ITSSAR-accredited Certificate of Training, recognised across the UK and widely accepted within industry.
